Dolly and Ron started square dancing in 1981 and began round dancing the following year. Wasting no time they jumped right in to round dance teaching and cueing. They attended classes in Vermont, New York and Montreal for more than 8 years. They have danced, cued, and taught at festivals in many places. They have taught levels 2-6 for more than 30 years and are still teaching and cueing phase 2-5 dancers today.
They have belonged to the Montreal Melody Mixers, Quebec Golden Slippers and their own Ron-Dall Dancers round dance clubs. They are or have been accredited members of VARDL, CVCA, National Carousels in Montreal and Roundalab. They have been members of many square dance clubs in the area and are the Club Cuers of the Lake Champlain Squares.
Dolly and Ron raised 4 girls and 28 foster children over the years. Many of her ‘children’ have danced with them when they were teens. Ron runs a small engine repair shop in Swanton and continues to do so today. Before Dolly began cueing she was a dog musher and breeder. She ran a boarding kennel for 45 years. Her favorite hobby is her love for gardening. She spends hours during the summer cultivating her extensive flower collection with a focus on hostas. If Dolly isn’t dancing or picking out new dance music, she’s out in the garden!
